The Weaving Word

Weaving together the threads that make up my passion for the written word…as an author, editor, and follower of The Word.

Inspiration Sunday Quote

Tolkien quoteI am not a full time writer, and my busy life often gets in the way.  Sometimes I feel like my current work in progress will never get done.  Yet somehow, paragraph by paragraph, it all comes together in the end, and I’m so glad that I stuck with it.

As I’m finishing up the last couple of chapters of my novella, this quote reminds me that even when I feel that my progress is too slow, the important thing is that I persevere in the end.

It’s the job that’s never started as takes longest to finish. – J.R.R. Tolkien

Hurrah! I like to think of my novels as a wall, and I build it, one brick at a time. Each scene may only be one brick, but it’s one more closer to the finished goal. 🙂

That’s a great way to look at it. Sometimes staring at those half-finished walls can be pretty intimidating, but once they’re up, we can stand back and take satisfaction at what was built. And then start the next wall. : )

Wasn’t it Sam’s Gaffer who said that?

That could very well be! Sounds like something he’d say.
