Weaving together the threads that make up my passion for the written word…as an author, editor, and follower of The Word.
My batteries are running pretty low today so this is going to be short, but I can really feel the hope in this small section of scripture. Jesus withdrew to Galilee, leaving Nazareth to live in Capernaum by the sea, which fulfills prophecy made by Isaiah…”beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles – the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.”
As a Christian, I’ve grown up having the benefit of the New Testament, of knowing how Jesus lived, and how he died—for me, and everyone. But the people of this era didn’t have such knowledge. They were still dwelling in the darkness, in the shadow of death. Suddenly a light penetrated that darkness, a light unlike any the world had ever seen. A hope unlike any other. But then as now, it is a hope that calls for repentance, for changed hearts. Have you ever been in a place of darkness and despair, and found your way out by following Jesus’ light?
